According to The Free Press, Fisher and his colleague only had one day to locate the mammoth’s skeleton because farmers needed to finish their job. They found ribs, a vertebra, a tusk, and an animal head. The missing parts might have been taken by people who may have killed the animal for food.

According to The Free Press Reports, at least 30 or more additional mammoth have been found in the state. Fisher told The Paper that this one might be a Jeffersonian mammoth. This hybrid is larger and more impressive than a woolly mammoth but not quite as large as a Columbian mammoth and different from what you’ll find in daily fieldwork.
