After returning home from the hospital, a guy abandoned his wife and children because he didn’t want the responsibility of raising triplets. They run into each other again years later, but things are very different this time.
When Allison found she was pregnant, she and her boyfriend, Adam, had been together for three years. The couple was overjoyed and welcomed the impending arrival of their third child.
Allison’s pregnancy received a lot of support from Adam. He accompanied her to her doctor’s appointments and stood by her during her ultrasounds.
The doctor informed them that the baby was fine one day while they had their regular checkup. “He’s big and strong! Your baby is very healthy,” he told them.
Adam couldn’t help but be pleased about that. “That young man is going to be my heir! I can’t wait to take him on exciting adventures. He’s going to be my mini-me,” he said.
Allison was happy that her husband had the same joy about their unborn child. Together, they prepared the nursery by choosing the baby’s essential furniture and outfits.
Allison hosted a baby shower with some of her closest friends at 28 weeks. She felt contractions began when they had a lovely afternoon tea gathering and exchanged gifts and stories.
“Ouch!” she exclaimed, gripping her tummy. Sharp shooting sensations pierced her belly.
“What happened? Are you okay?” her pals rushed to her side.
“I’m having horrible contractions. I need to rush to the hospital. Can you guys take me?”Allison found it challenging to speak. The contractions were coming more often, and she was in terrible pain.
“Of course. I’ll also call Adam to head to the hospital, “Maya, Allison’s buddy, spoke as she helped Allison get out of her chair.
The doctor confirmed that she was in labor when they arrived at the hospital. Adam came not long after she began to give delivery. Everyone was shocked that the baby was born on her first attempt, including her doctor. It was a girl.
“It’s a girl!” the doctor exclaimed.
“What? How is that possible? We’ve been seeing a boy in the ultrasound, “Still on to Allison, who was still in pain, Adam enquired.
“Hold on; I see another head! We’re not done here, “The doctor urged Allison to push harder.
“It’s a boy. There he is,” the doctor said; the doctor showed Allison and Adam that she had given birth to two healthy babies.

Allison screamed once more before she could respond. Another baby was coming fast as well.
Adam was in awe. He welcomed welcoming his son, his heir, into their family. He now had three kids that needed to be taken care of.
While the three kids were taken to the neonatal intensive care unit, Allison was carried over to the recovery room. The triplets had to stay there for a few days before they could go because they were born at 28 weeks.
Adam was left to his thoughts while this was happening. He went to see Allison’s physician and questioned her about what had happened. “How could that be? How did we not find out in advance that she had three babies inside?” he asked.
“The ultrasound sometimes can’t see everything at once, especially if the fetus is too small. They can also hide behind each other, making it difficult to see. You and Allison are lucky. This happens in one in a million pregnancies!” she explained.

Adam wasn’t happy; he was disappointed. He was not looking forward to having to rear three children simultaneously.
He stayed at home while Allison and the kids were at the hospital. He told Allison, “Call me when you’re ready to go home.”
Allison and the children, whom she called Andy, Amara, and Ashton, had to wait another five days before they could return home. Allison expected that Adam would be pleased when the time came.
However, their journey home was miserable and in silence. Is everything all right? Allison questioned her spouse. He muttered and shrugged his shoulders.

The dad asked if the kids needed anything as soon as they arrived home. Allison smiled, believing that he was finally adapting to the triplets. “The kids ran out of diapers at the hospital. Could you go and buy some?” she asked.
Adam nodded. “Sure. I’ll be back soon,” he said. Allison happily cared for the three children while they waited. She was in a different room in the hospital, so this was her first time caring for them on her own.
“Hello there, sweetie pies,” she explained as she laid each of them on the cot. “Daddy went to buy you more diapers, so hang in there, alright? It’s not time to poop just yet,” she said, talking to her kids.
After successfully putting the kids to sleep, Allison decided to prepare dinner. She wasn’t sure how long the kids would be sleeping, so she chose to prepare a quick mac and cheese recipe for when Adam arrived.

But hours went by, and he was still away. She could not carry the triplets since they were all wailing at once.
A voicemail box was heard when Allison attempted to contact Adam’s number. “Hey, where are you? Is everything alright? I’m getting worried. Call me back,” she said.
Allison tried to contact him once more an hour later. This time, he had turned off his phone.
She then made a 911 call in an attempt to gather data. “I just wanted to know if this number is active. My husband hasn’t gone home, and I’m afraid he got into an accident,” she said.
The dispatcher got Adam’s number, and they could follow it. “I’m sorry, ma’am, but the line is active. He did not get into an accident, and your husband is currently driving on the interstate freeway.”
Allison began to cry. “Why?” she sobbed, her children echoing her cries in the background. “What did I do to deserve this?”
Without help, she was left alone with three newly born triplets. She was frightened, angry, and helpless. She then called her mother and spilled her heart out.

“Mom,” she cried. “Adam left me all alone with the triplets. He won’t return my calls, and he’s been gone for hours. I don’t know what to do. All the kids are crying, and I haven’t started producing enough milk for them. How will I survive?” she said, panicking.
“Sweetheart. Calm yourself down, alright? Drink a glass of water and take some time before carrying the kids. Your sister and I will be right there. Don’t cry anymore. Give us thirty minutes,” her mom, Annie, replied
Her mother quickly hung up the phone and started working. They packed their bags and drove to Allison’s house after she called Ashley, Allison’s sister.
Allison was feeding two of her kids while one was asleep when they got there. She started crying once more when she spotted her mother and sister.

“What would I do without you two?” she asked. “I can’t believe he left me. Just like that! No explanation, no heads up. He just disappeared,” Allison cried.
“He is not worth your time or tears, sweetheart. You have three beautiful children to care for. You don’t have to do it alone. You have us, alright? Forget that poor excuse of a man,” her mother replied, kissing Allison on the forehead.
Allison went to meet Adam’s parents to check if they had heard from him before she finally let go of him. Adam’s mother received her with severe coldness rather than sympathy.
“Hi, mom,” she greeted him like she always had. “Have you heard from Adam? He hasn’t come home in two days,” Allison explained.

Adam’s mom, Maria, leaned against the door while crossing her arms. “No, I haven’t seen my son, and even when I find out where he is, I’m not telling you where he’s at.”
“What happened, mom? We were all okay during my pregnancy. You were all so excited. What changed?”
Allison inquired, feeling sad once more.
“You and my son got married too young. I was against it initially, but Adam was so persistent that I couldn’t do anything about it. Now, you’re shoving the responsibility of caring for THREE children on his plate. That poor boy is going to break his back working to feed all of you,” she said.
Allison was so shocked and hurt that she had to respond. “The purpose of getting married is to start a family. Adam knew what he was getting into and was excited to be a father. Raising three children is no joke, but he wouldn’t have to raise them alone. I work, too. We do everything as a team,” she explained.

“That’s what they all say, but let’s be real. A chunk of the financial responsibility falls on the father. My son is too young to support three children all at once. What happens when they all start going to school? It’s going to be a nightmare for him. Word of advice, just put the kids up for adoption,” Maria said while keeping her arms crossed across her chest.
“I can’t believe you’re saying this about your kin. Your family wants nothing to do with my children. So now, I’m making it clear, too – you must know that your son is no father, and you have no grandchildren, “Before walking off, Allison said.
As Allison made her way back to her car, she cried. She promised herself that would be the last time as she sat in the driver’s seat, but only after one more cry. She had to raise her three lovely children immediately, so she didn’t have time to pout.
Each of them was calmly seated in their car seats as she said: “We can do it without him. Don’t you worry, sweethearts. Mommy’s got you.”

True enough, Allison raised her three children with the help of her mom and her sister, who lived nearby. They would help Allison carry the load by cooking, babysitting the kids, and helping with other household chores.
Allison was able to develop a career for herself with their assistance. She studied hard to pass the board examinations she put off after getting married because she was a law graduate.
Allison finally graduated from law school. She managed her group of colleagues while working at a famous law firm. Her three children were then in grade school and only a block from her place of employment.
One day, a man showed up for an interview to join her team as an associate. She was taken aback to see Adam when she looked up from her desk.

“Allison, what a surprise!” he said, stunned. “What are you doing here?” he asked her.
“Well, I lead the team you’re trying to apply for. Is that shocking to you?” she asked.
“I just… I can’t believe you were able to achieve so much through the years. How long has it been?”
“I just… I can’t believe you were able to achieve so much through the years. How long has it been? Still seeming shocked that he was staring directly at his ex-wife, Adam said.
“It’s been eight years. And yes, it was quite a ride raising three children while studying for the bar. However, I’m not here to catch up with you,” Adam was sitting in front of Allison as she continued to work on the paperwork.
“Wow. I’ve been trying to get a job at your firm for a while now. Since you mentioned you’re not here to catch up, we should have dinner and discuss things,” Adam suggested.
Allison had a great view of him. She was aware that he intended to use her to get the business. She gave a shake of the head. “There’s no need for that. Look. Your resume is flawless, but I can’t hire you,” she started.

“What?! Why? You’re being salty after all these years?”Adam spoke, gently revealing his true self.
Allison sighed. “You haven’t changed one bit. I can’t hire you because we look at character more than credentials in this law firm. Allison clarified that I don’t need an irresponsible person on my team,” Allison clarified.
“How are you so sure I’m still irresponsible? Maybe I’ve changed,” he hinted.
“You had eight years to check on your kids. Did you? I sent you divorce papers, but you refused to sign them. I had to file an abandonment case to get that divorce finalized. How is that a changed man?” Allison shot back. “Please, let’s not waste each other’s time. I think it’s better you leave now,” she said.
Adam and Allison both experienced their painful lessons. Allison, however, understood that God is perfect and never makes a mistake. He doesn’t remove a person from your life without a good reason. Because he thinks you deserve more, he removes people from your life.
What can we take away from this story?
- We become more challenging, stronger, and more resilient due to hardship. Allison decided to put in the effort and establish her reputation for raising her children well rather than giving up and sulking about her bad luck.
- There will always be those ready to go through life’s highs and lows with us. Allison thought she would have to raise her three children alone, but her mother and sister supported her at every turn.
