Mariska Hargitay, 59, of “Law & Order,” is certain that she was destined to start a family with Peter Hermann, her co-star on the show, and her husband of 18 years.
The couple expressed interest in becoming new parents.
Four months after the adoption of their daughter, they were surprised by the “fall from the sky” birth of their second child through adoption.
Today marks Mariska Hargitay’s 59th birthday. You may recognize her as the actress who plays Detective Olivia Benson on the television show “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.” Since the star of “All-American Girl” has stated that she enjoys spending quality time with her husband and three children, she may make the most of her birthday by celebrating it with the people she cares about the most.
A daughter named Amaya Hermann is one of Mariska’s three children, along with two sons named August and Andrew Hermann. She takes great pleasure in working with her husband, Peter Hermann, to raise their three children. Mariska’s main complaint is that she doesn’t have enough time in the day to do all her jobs, including working, running a nonprofit organization, and taking care of her three kids.
When asked about it, Mariska gushed that her house was her “happy spot” when she was asked about it. They have created a pleasant, family-oriented home with Peter’s help, which always manages to bring a smile to her face because her children are never too far away. The actress stated that she would not have been able to create the life she currently leads without the help of her husband.
She revealed that
“My husband is my North Star, and my kids are my teachers … ” Our family is perfect, or at least perfect for me.”
On her Instagram story, Mariska just posted a photo of a colorful arrangement of flowers. Even though she never revealed the identity of the person who gave it to her, it is safe to assume that Peter was the one who made such a kind gesture.
How Did They Feel About Their Adoption Praise?
Mariska and Peter originally met on “Law & Order: SVU.” Mariska had already been working as an actress on the show for some time when Peter came in for a guest role in one of the episodes in 2002. The two had a great relationship, and it didn’t take long before they started spending time together beyond work. They spent some time together as a couple before marrying each other in 2004.
When Peter and Mariska tell the story of how they decided to adopt, they always add with a laugh that August believes it was his idea.
The individuals realized early on that they wanted to be married and begin a family and could fulfill those goals with the birth of their first child, August. They already had one son, but after their first birth, they decided to have more children. Peter and Mariska have decided to adopt a child instead of having another one of their own.
They started exploring their choices and looked at both domestic and foreign adoption as possible routes for them to take. Mariska and Peter did not give up their prayers and hopes for the right new member of their family, and in 2011, they were blessed with the arrival of little Amaya Josephine. When she was born, they knew immediately that she was the ideal addition to their family, and Mariska remarked that “…our prayers were answered.”

The birth of young Amaya brought joy to everyone in the family. Her older brother August was especially excited about the arrival of their new baby sister, and he vowed to his parents that he would be the most responsible and kind older brother that anybody could ask for. But soon after Amaya joined their small group, they received a surprise.
Four months after the adoption, how did the third child seemingly “fall out of the sky”?
They always laugh that August thinks it was his idea when Peter and Mariska tell the narrative of how they concluded that they should adopt a child. They discussed how August expressed his wish to have a younger sister after he returned from a play at a friend’s house after spending time there. In a similar study, his parents had already begun to consider the possibility of having more children.
After they overheard August express his desire to have a younger brother or sister, which led them to start the adoption process, they realized that the moment had come. Peter and Mariska made some comments at the start of the adoption process. They mentioned how fortunate they felt because things moved quickly for them compared to the bulk of other adoptive families.

However, not long after Amaya joined their family, August suggested adding another child to their already-growing family. The fact that their elder daughter wanted another sibling came as a bit of a surprise to Peter and Mariska, but they decided that the idea was a good one and began their search. Peter revealed to us:
“When we went ahead with the adoption, August thought it was his idea.” Then he wanted a little boy. Did we say? A miracle happened and our second son, Andrew, fell out of the sky and into our home.”
