If you remember your first day of school, you probably remember your feelings of anxiety and nervousness.

Even though not all children go through these feelings, it’s safe to assume that the majority of them are anxious when it comes time for them to move out on their own and go on a journey into the unknown.

One little one by the name of Axel most certainly was. Despite his mother’s reassurances that everything would be fine, he was having a difficult time adapting to the prospect of being apart from Amy Johnson, his mother.

When Isabel Lane, the bus driver, drew up to collect Axel, she noticed almost immediately that he was anxious.

“He was all smiles when he saw me around the corner,” Isabel said. “And then I started to slow down. And that’s when you could see his face kind of start to change.”

Amy helped Axel up and seated him in the nearest open seat on the bus. After that, she made an effort to capture a photo of her son so that she and he might have a memento for the future.

However, that would prove to be more difficult than expected. Axel grabbed Amy as soon as she had even the least intention of moving away from him. At that same moment, Isabel, who was driving the bus, did something just lovely; she put her hand behind her and took Axel’s hand in hers.

Amy was able to take the required breath after being helped by the comforting gesture. She posted it on Facebook, where it quickly became a hit with users of the social media website.

Even the local police department shared the photo, praising Isabel for her assistance to Amy during a difficult time.

“I didn’t think it was like that big of a deal personally. I guess this is something that I would do,” Isabel later said.

According to the reports, the simple gesture of comfort offered by Isabel was exactly what Axel needed at that moment. The 10-year-old boy had a different attitude the following day; he waited at the bus stop by himself and said hello to Isabel before taking the bus.

Way to go, Isabel! I do not doubt that Amy will be very grateful to you for everything you’ve done for her son.

If you want to send your best wishes to Axel for the future and commend Isabel for the thoughtful act she made, please share this story.
